solo piano [but not really] (1997)

Excerpted from an evening-long multimedia piece called “Circular Screaming” created by Dennis Báthory-Kitsz and myself. The composition was for electronic-only playback; it was impossible to play on a normal piano, even if the performer sported a prehensile third hand. Nonetheless, one undaunted pianist asked me to revise it for human fingers. With Dennis’s patient assistance, I did. The pianist added myriad notations to the score and then played on a “Serious/Fun Music Festival” concert fourteen months later. Still, this is how it should sound.
